John moved to San Francisco from home in Rochester NY after graduating from college in 1985 and has lived there ever since. He has been married to his loving wife for 26 years and they have 2 daughters. He has worked on Film and TV production crews since 1991.

Dr. Robert Starke

Dr. Robert Starke is a neurosurgeon and neuroradiologist at Miami University specializing in cerebrovascular, tumor and endovascular neurosurgery of all age groups including the pediatric community. Dr. Starke is one of the few dual-trained neurosurgeons in the country able to offer both surgical and minimally invasive endovascular solutions to complex cerebrovascular disease, able to perform every procedure from the initial angiogram to the final embolization or surgery. His research laboratory focuses on developing medical therapies, imaging modalities, and minimally invasive treatments for cerebrovascular disease.

John Rawls

John Rawls is the caregiver to an AVM survivor, his wife of four years, Caryn Hopson Rawls. He has two kids, Kaylee and JonDavid. John has been an instructor for EMS, Fire, and Technical Rescue over the years, but now spends his time playing the bagpipes, jogging, cycling, or camping. He is a member of the Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene as well as IAFF local 3034.
