Doctors say it. Survivors repeat it. And certainly it gets bandied about in support groups. So, what’s one of the top things survivors hate to hear? It’s this: “After 12 months, your recovery will plateau. That’s basically as good as it gets.” It’s maddening because time and again survivors prove it wrong.
So what gives?

In terms of return to baseline cognitive function, why is a 12-month post-rupture benchmark stuck in our community vernacular?
